Our strategic partnership announces the SSinDS intellectual output 1. Hence, this is the completion of the first deliverable, in the framework of the European project “SUSTAINABLE SERVICE-IN-DS: Involving Persons with Down Syndrome in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals through Service Learning”. The outcome, of this intellectual output, is the formation of a pertinent training scheme.
A Brief Summary of SUSTAINABLE SERVICE-IN-DS Project
It is an Erasmus+ project, that is aiming to combine the application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the reinforcement of Persons with Down Syndrome (PDS) and their supports’ competences. In order to achieve the project’s goal, service learning will be applied. Even though, this is an effective training method, the use of it is rare, due to lack of knowledge on its optimization; and, in its combination with this population. Our strategic partnership is comprised by eight organization, coming from: Romania; Greece; Spain; Portugal; and, Croatia.
Introducing the SSinDS Intellectual Output 1
The completion of the first project stage, was due to the valuable participation of: people with down syndrome; professionals, who work with PDS; relatives; supports; and, experts in the fields of service-learning and the SDGs. The outcome was the development of a training scheme, which contains general and specific learning outcomes; and, it is in alignment with the needs and expectations. Furthermore, the foundation of the training design is in PDS roles and competences, that will be of service to them in their societal framework, with the contribution of SDGs and service-learning projects. Finally, it is also includes the methodological approach and specifications that will be elaborated, in the implementation course of this project.
The project partnership is committed to work towards the empowerment of the down syndrome population; and, considers the SSinDS intellectual output 1 a promising contribution to their mission.
